How To Replace Undermount Kitchen Sink

If you’re looking to upgrade the look of your kitchen, one of the most common ways to do so is to replace the kitchen sink. Replacing a kitchen sink is a fairly straightforward process, but there are a few things you’ll need to consider before you begin. This article will cover the basics of replacing a kitchen sink.

Gather the Necessary Materials

Before you start replacing your kitchen sink, make sure you have the necessary materials. You’ll need a new sink, a sink basin wrench, plumber’s putty, a putty knife, a basin wrench, and a bucket for catching water. Additionally, you’ll want to make sure you have a few basic hand tools like a screwdriver, a hammer, and a pair of pliers.

Disconnect the Water Supply

Once you have the necessary materials, the first step is to disconnect the water supply. Begin by turning off the water supply at the shutoff valve. Once the water supply is shut off, use a basin wrench to disconnect the supply lines from the shutoff valve. Make sure to have a bucket ready to catch any water that may come out.

Remove the Old Sink

The next step is to remove the old sink. Start by removing the fasteners that hold the sink in place. Use a screwdriver or a hammer to remove the fasteners. Once the fasteners are removed, carefully lift the sink and remove it from the countertop. If the sink is attached to a disposal, use a pair of pliers to disconnect the hose from the disposal.

Install the New Sink

Now it’s time to install the new sink. Start by applying a bead of plumber’s putty around the edges of the sink. Place the sink into the opening, making sure it’s level and secure. Use a putty knife to spread the putty evenly around the edges of the sink. Then, use the fasteners provided to secure the sink in place.

Reconnect the Water Supply

Once the sink is installed, it’s time to reconnect the water supply. Begin by reconnecting the supply lines to the shutoff valve. Make sure to use a basin wrench to ensure a tight connection. Then, turn on the water supply and check for any leaks. If there are no leaks, your new sink is now ready for use.
